Second only to Thriller: AC/DC's Back In Black
Be prepared to hear a lot about Thriller, the top selling record of all time, which was released by Michael Jackson in 1982.
Sales topped over 100 million copies worldwide, a feat that will probably never be equaled in a time when 95% of the music downloaded is pirated off of peer-to-peer file sharing networks for free. In other words, even if an album like Thriller came out today, most people would probably download it for free.
At any rate, this raises the question: What are the best selling albums of all time? Even if you’re not a Michael Jackson fan, the fact that Thriller sold twice as much as the next closest selling record is an astonishing testament to Jackson’s worldwide popularity. You might be surprised by some of these. Here’s a list of the top 11.
