The Swagger Sticks will be back in action tonight playing a FREE show at Club Trip in Santa Monica. We’re playing with four other bands and it should be one hell of a night.
I’ll have a different rhythm section backing me up since bassist Matt Morales is on the road doing comedy and drummer Simon Hancock had a prior committment.
I had a [...]

I picked up the latest record from Kid Congo Powers & The Pink Monkey Birds after reading an LA Weekly article a few weeks back about the eclectic roster on In The Red Records. I also heard Mike Watt talking about him on the Watt From Pedro Radio Show…I didn’t know that “The Kid” aka Brian Tristan had at one point played guitar with The [...]

My favorite song, “You Want It, You Got it,” is the 16th track [...]

Pu$$y Cow, LA’s amiable cowpunk rockers, played their 4th anniversary show last night at Juanita’s in Highland Park. Emceed by Rob Z, The crowd was wasted by 11pm and the room had the distinct aroma of beer and sweat, which is how a real rock show is supposed to smell.
They blasted through their set so [...]

We kicked off the second day of shooting for The Swagger Sticks video this past Sunday for ”She Wants Everything.” We filmed the bizzaro-world audition sequence, which ended up being like a punk rock version Pee Wee’s Big Top Adventure.
Though the band wasn’t being filmed during this sequence, we still had twelve actors and four crew members [...]

Ok! I’m getting ready to do a drum session later this week with my new band, The Swagger Sticks. Up to this point I’ve recorded all my drums on Reason using Protools but I’m finally to the point where it’s time for some live drums. A buddy of mine, Simon Hancock, is an incredibly talented drummer [...]
